What are royalties?
Royalties allow you to earn a percentage of each secondary sale of your NFTs. When enabled, this ensures creators continue receiving a share of their collection’s long-term trading activity.
Royalties are not applied during the initial mint, only on resales through JPG Store or other royalty-supporting marketplaces.
For a broader overview of how royalties work, see: NFT royalties: how they work and why they matter.
How to set royalties in your mint
You can set up royalties while preparing your collection for launch.
Go to your Collections Minting Dashboard.
In the dashboard, click on the Royalty Settings section.
Enter:
The royalty percentage (e.g. 5)
The wallet address that should receive royalty payments
Make sure "Mint a CIP-0027 royalty token" is checked.
Confirm and check the warning box that acknowledges royalty tokens are permanent once minted.
When complete, your Royalty Settings will show as set in the minting dashboard overview.
What is a CIP-27 royalty token?
When you set your royalties using the JPG Store minting platform, a CIP-0027 royalty token is minted on-chain. This token specifies your royalty percentage and payout address, and it becomes the official royalty standard for your collection.
Once minted, the royalty token is permanent and cannot be changed.

Can I update royalties later?
Once the royalty token is created, you cannot change the on-chain royalty details. However, JPG Store allows you to override royalty settings on the platform at any time, which will take effect only on JPG Store.
To do this, follow the guide here:
How to change your collection’s name, description, URL, royalties, and categories
Note: Platform-level changes do not update the on-chain CIP-27 royalty token.
Tips before finalizing
Double-check your royalty wallet address, this cannot be changed after mint.
Use a valid Cardano wallet address (

). Do not use exchange or smart contract addresses.Consider keeping the royalty reasonable (e.g. 2%–10%) to balance creator income with buyer interest.
